Porcelain Crowns & Caps
A crown covers and encases the entire visible surface of a tooth, restoring its original shape, size, and strength. Porcelain crowns are prized because they closely resemble your natural teeth while standing up to daily wear for many years.
When a crown is recommended
- A broken or fractured tooth
- Significant decay that a filling can't address
- A large or failing existing filling
- A tooth that's had root canal therapy
- Purely cosmetic enhancement
The process
Crowns typically take two appointments. At the first, we take precise molds for your custom crown, gently reshape the tooth to make room for it, and fit you with a temporary crown while the permanent one is being made. At the second visit, we remove the temporary, clean the tooth, and carefully place and adjust your permanent crown for a comfortable, natural bite.
See our post-op care instructions for guidance on caring for your new crown.
