Fluoride Treatment

Fluoride is the most effective agent available for preventing tooth decay, with over 50 years of research backing its benefits.

How fluoride protects your teeth

Topical fluoride strengthens the outer layer of enamel after teeth emerge — delivered through toothpaste, rinses, and in-office gel treatments. We typically recommend children receive a topical application twice a year at their check-ups.

Systemic fluoride strengthens both erupted teeth and teeth still developing beneath the gums, from sources like fluoridated water, food, and supplements. We monitor children's intake carefully, since too much during development can cause fluorosis (white spots on the teeth).

Who we recommend it for

  • Deep pits or grooves on chewing surfaces
  • Exposed or sensitive tooth roots
  • A history of frequent cavities
  • Dry mouth from medications or medical conditions
  • Limited fluoride exposure at home

Fluoride alone isn't a substitute for good habits — brushing twice a day, flossing daily, eating well, and keeping up with regular dental visits are still essential.
