Oral Hygiene Instruction
Professional cleanings matter, but what you do at home between visits matters just as much. We're happy to walk you through techniques that make your daily routine more effective.
Why it matters
- Prevents decay by removing the acid-producing plaque that erodes enamel
- Protects your gums — untreated plaque buildup can lead to periodontal disease, tooth loss, and even bone recession
- Freshens breath by clearing away trapped food particles and bacteria
- Reduces staining from coffee, tea, and tobacco
Brushing the right way
Brush twice daily with a soft-bristled brush (replaced every three months), held at a 45-degree angle at the gumline. Use gentle circular motions rather than aggressive scrubbing, and be sure to cover every surface — outer, inner, and chewing — plus your tongue.
Flossing the right way
Daily flossing reaches what a toothbrush can't. Ease the floss gently between teeth rather than snapping it into the gums, and curve it against each tooth to clean beneath the gumline.
